Privacy Policy

SpotLaunch helps you organize and open apps and search files on your Mac. Your app layout and search stay on your device. The current version has no account system, advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not send your app list, file contents, search queries, or usage history to the developer.

What stays on your Mac

SpotLaunch stores your layout, folders, sections, pages, hidden icons, application paths, and recent app launches locally. It also saves appearance settings and window preferences. Recent launches may include other apps launched while SpotLaunch is running. The app keeps a local catalog to display your apps and detect changes.

File search and folder access

File search is optional. You choose which folders SpotLaunch can search. It uses Apple's Spotlight index to find filenames and indexed text content within those folders. Folder permissions are saved locally using macOS security-scoped bookmarks. Search results are displayed on your Mac; SpotLaunch does not upload them to the developer. Opening a result passes that file to its associated application, which has its own privacy practices.

You can disable file search or remove a folder from the search settings at any time. This stops SpotLaunch from searching that folder; it does not delete the folder or change the system's Spotlight index.

Diagnostics and support

When you choose “Report a Problem”, SpotLaunch opens your email app and fills a draft with technical information about the error. You can review and edit it before sending. No report is sent without your action. We use the information we receive to reply to you and investigate the problem.

The generated report contains an error code, the SpotLaunch and macOS versions, a short technical description, and a system error domain and number when available. It does not include file contents, search queries, filenames, or personal paths. Arbitrary system error messages and attached diagnostic data are not included. You can add a description of what you were doing before the error.

“Copy Report” copies the same short report to your clipboard without sending it. You can paste it into an email to support@spotlaunch.app. Your email app or provider handles the draft and any email you choose to send under its own privacy practices.

If you email support, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to include. Email services process this correspondence to deliver and store it. We use it to answer your request and troubleshoot the issue. We delete support correspondence within six months after your request is closed. To request earlier deletion, email support@spotlaunch.app from the address you used to contact us.

This website

When you visit this website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and technical request information to deliver and protect the site. We do not use analytics or advertising tracking.

Storage and removal

Local settings and app data remain on your Mac until you reset or remove them. Local backups may be created when recovering a damaged layout. Removing the app alone may leave settings, support files, or backups on your Mac. These can be removed separately. macOS controls retention of system diagnostic logs. SpotLaunch has no server-side account or user database to delete.

Apple services

Apple may process information through the App Store or macOS under its own privacy policy and your system settings. This policy describes SpotLaunch's behavior, not Apple's or the apps you open through SpotLaunch.
